Abstract

Minimarkets in Kartasura Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency currently amounts to 30 minimarkets, fearing it can bring adverse effects to grocery stalls. The presence of more and more minimarkets amidst the community environment, can be a competitor for grocery shop merchants because it can have an impact on income that could decline due to the presence of the minimarket. This study aims to (1) Analyze the characteristics of grocery shop merchants in Kartasura Subdistrict (2) Analyze changes in the number of visitors and working hours since the establishment of the modern minimarket (3) Analyze the effect of the location and distance of the minimarket on the income of the minimarket. The method used is the survey method, the sampling method is purposive random sampling. The population is traders of grocery stalls in Kartasura sub-district as many as 60 respondents. The data obtained by this study by interview method using a questionnaire. The analysis used is frequency table analysis. Analysis of data processing in this study used spatial analysis using the theme of spatial pattern analysis, and the spatial pattern of grocery stalls in Kartasura District was random or diffuse. The results of the interviews showed that there were no changes in the opening hours of the stalls, the longest opening hours of the stalls were 15 hours by 3 respondents and the shortest was 9 hours by 4 respondents while the other 53 respondents opened the stalls for 10-14 hours per day. There was a change in the number of visitors to the shop, before the establishment of minimarkets the most number of regular visitors was more than 60 as many as 19 respondents and at least 20-30 as many as 15 respondents, the remaining 26 respondents had a total of 31 - 60 visitors. The number of visitors after the establishment of more than 60 minimarkets was 5 respondents and 20-30 visitors as many as 34 respondents, 21 other respondents experienced a decline with not too many visitors. The distance and location of the warung affect the level of income of the grocery shop, the income of traders with the closest distance of less than 500 m has decreased to 50%. The decrease in income is at least 668-1000 m, which is a decrease of 16% and the remaining decrease in the amount of income by merchant stalls varies between 16% - 50%.
