Abstract
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a welding process that utilizes heat due to the rotation of the tool with metal rubbing against the parent under axial pressure on the welding area so that it can make the connection. Method of welding friction stir welding can be used to connect the difficult material in las at fushion welding. This research is to know the influence of heat treatment annealing and normalizing on the weld material aluminum AA 1100 against similar mechanical properties and physical properties. In this welding process using a milling machine with parameter feedrate 60 mm/min, the angle of tilt of the tool of 3 º and speed of rotation of the tool 1500 rpm. As well as normalizing and annealing heat treatment is carried out at a temperature of 345 º C with heat in the furnace detention for 2 hours. Mechanical properties of tensile testing and testing the physical properties of the force, known from the microstructure. The results of this study found that the tensile strength values in normalizing material were higher than raw and annealing with an average stress value of 93.21 MPa and strain values of 16.50%. The highest hardness value of the base metal area, HAZ and weld area all occurred in raw material of 29.4 BHN, 33.7 BHN and 40.3 BHN. While the lowest hardness occurs in all regions of the material being annealed. The microstructure of the HAZ region and wled nuggets experienced grain growth due to the temperature received. While the weld nugget shows a small micro-structure and tight appearance.
