Abstract
Candirejo village is the village craft producer of natural stone. In Candirejo village there are huge natural resources in the form of natural stones. The natural stone is used by the residents of Candirejo Village to be made into crafts in the form of building walls, building floors, and statues. The number of natural stone crafts business is found in Candirejo Village because of the increasing demand of the market to make many foundations of natural stone craft factories. To get raw materials, the craftsmen mine their own natural stone in a location not far from the production site. But the income earned is not fixed every month. This is caused by weather factors, if the rainy season the income earned is slightly compared to the dry season. This study aims to determine the characteristics of natural stone craft workers and how the influence of the existence of the natural stone craft industry on the socio-economic community in Candirejo Village, Semin District, Gunungkidul Regency. The method used is survey, and in-depth interviews with respondents, namely natural stone craft workers. The results of the research are the characteristics of workers in the natural stone craft of Candirejo Village and the socio-economic characteristics of workers which can be concluded that the income of natural stone workers can meet household needs and the remainder can be stored for future survival.
