Abstract
Background. Fruits and vegetables are fibrous foods that are high in vitamins and minerals needed by the body, however this does not change the community, especially school children in eating fruits and vegetables. Based on the results of preliminary survey of students in SDN Totosari 1 and SDN Tunggulsari 1 only 6.25% who consume fruit and vegetables after recommendation and 93.75% of students who consume less fruit and vegetables. Aim. This study aims to determine the relationship of fruit and vegetable intake to the adequacy of vitamin C and Fe and nutritional status of students SDN Totosari 1 and SDN Tunggulsari 1 in Surakarta. Method. This study used cross sectional design, 74 students selected by stratified random sampling. Data of fruit and vegetable intake was obtained through interview with questionnaire of food frequency semi-quantitative questioner, while vitamin C and Fe obtained from nutrisurvey of fruit and vegetable intake, nutritional status obtained through measurement of body weight and height analyzed using WHO Antro Plus version 3.2.2 . The analysis used rank spearmen statistic test. Results. Most of the students of SDN Totosari 1 and SDN Tunggulsari 1 consume fruit and vegetables in the category of less (70,3%). The contribution of fruits and vegetables to vitamin C adequacy amounted to 190,6%. The contribution of fruits and vegetables to the adequacy of Fe is 30,65%. Nutritional status (TB/U) of 29.7% including stunting and 70.3% including normal. Based on statistical test, there is no relationship between fruit and vegetable intake on nutritional status (TB/U) (p value = 0.124), there is no correlation between vitamin C sufficiency to nutritional status (p = 0,592) the relationship of Fe sufficiency to nutritional status (TB/U) (p value = 0.490). Conclusion. There is no relationship between fruit and vegetable intake on nutritional status (TB/U). There is no relation between vitamin C sufficiency to nutritional status (TB/U).
