Abstract
ABSTRACT Extraordinary Schools that are providers of educational services for persons with disabilities or children with special needs in an integrated manner, such as the provision of space facilities that support learning activities and accessibility facilities according to their individual. However, this SLB in Pekalongan City still lacks adequate facilities for children with special needs because they only have classes in general and do not have special spaces to support specific methods applied in special schools. The method used to achieve what is needed through data collection both from literature, comparative studies and interviews. Data is processed, analyzed and becomes a formulation concept in planning and designing special schools in Pekalongan city. Therefore an idea emerges to plan an SLB design (architectural ecological design approach) that can not only support all the needs of special methods but with an architectural ecological design approach that can reduce negative impacts or as a deterrent to global warming, in order to create sustainability between the environment and building mass.
