Abstract

Modern market growth in Indonesia in recent years is quite high. Various types of modern markets such as minimarkets, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and shopping malls are mushrooming and their existence continues to shift the existence of traditional markets. Some people, especially those living in urban areas tend to prefer modern markets as a place to buy their daily necessities, because the modern market is so affordable, clean, comfortable, and we do not need to bargain the prices of goods to buy. One of the changes in the current development is the change of rural areas into urban areas (urban areas) which results in the emergence of modern markets as the demands of urban communities tend to be more consumptive. The emergence of the modern market has a dual effect on the community and government. Taking into account the background of the problems in the Sragen City Market area and adjusting the conditions of tourism in Sragen Regency, this traditional shopping center area will be grouped into the function of each sale. forms of food, clothing, or typical crafts of Sragen and at the same time as the most complete entertainment facilities in Sragen. The purpose of this plan is to lift the image of traditional markets with modern concepts (neo vernacular) as a shopping center that is comfortable, safe, and enjoyable, repairs or restructuring of traditional markets so that the needs of visitors to shopping needs are met. The following is the design process of the trade center design and representative public space in the Sragen City Market area by taking into account the preservation of the building and regional image. Representative is a social process that relates to certain lifestyles and cultures of a society that relate to a change in ideological concepts in a concrete form. The process of designing a trade center and representative public space by distorting social aspects then analyzing. The design results of the Sragen City Market design that attracts and preserves cultural heritage are reflected in the form of roofs that surround the building facade, the composition of building materials that reflect the neo vernacular concept, the form of booths and kiosks in trading places reflect the wisdom of traditional market atmosphere. The design of the Sragen City Market circulation with a linear pattern supports clarity of direction, space effectiveness and easy access between parts of space. Separation in accordance with the commodity and giving identity to the booth / kiosk will make it easier for visitors to access. Design of grouping of booths and kiosks to facilitate the grouping of each function, type and character of each merchandise and type of merchandise. Utility designs that use market hygiene and health are reflected from closed drainage systems, utility circulation using shafts as vertical circulation, modern waste treatment systems, and the separation of organic and inorganic waste will be easy to recycle.
