Distribution system is a part of the electric power system used to distribute electrical energy to consumers. There are many disruption that occur in the distribution system, so that protection system is very needed to protect and securing electrical energy system equipment. Requirements that needed to minimize the disruption are selectivity, sensitivity, reliability, and velocity. The disruption that frequently occur in distribution networks are short circuit disruptions. The equipment that is often used is ground fault protection relays and overcurrent relays. Overcurrent relays and ground disturbances works when there are more flows perceived by the relay due to short circuit or overload interference and then instruct the power breaker to open it according to the time characteristics. The purpose of the analysis that used to calculate the flow of short circuit faults, then determine the protection relay settings and compare them to the relay settings in the field. Based on the results of calculations, the value of the short circuit fault three phase is obtained as big as 13641 A and the added value of the short circuit fault to the ground is equal to 977 A. The comparison results of calculation data with the data installed at the Pati substation are close to the same or not much different. This is indicates that the relay conditions are still in good condition or working in accordance with the setting value.
