Abstract
Marriage in terms of marriage is the union of two different creatures (manusia) and both have family beliefs. Then assimilation in terms of marriage is a social process between two creatures (manusia) or even a group accepting each other's characteristics and desires that are shown by each individual to form a new family. Through the user of communication between intercultural communication which is defined as the process of exchanging information by humans through adaptation through a system of human life and its environment to culture. This study aims to find out how the use of communication as a social process in intercultural marriage. This research is a qualitative research that produces descriptive data. This research was conducted in the city of Surakarta, precisely in the Solo area of the ghehe market complex. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, namely 7 respondents. The results of the study found that communication in the assimilation of intercultural marriages had the majority of open minds, especially couples who decided to carry out mixed marriages had the ability of the importance of intercultural communication for couples between ethnic Javanese and Chinese including beliefs, values and norms, self awareness, open mindedness, showing respect and opening up is a communication effort for inter-ethnic marriage couples. Respect for one another will make a person adjust to his 2 environment and psychology which results in cultural awareness to encourage personal growth and a reduced sense of ethnocentrism so that they not only have other cultural experiences through their partners, but they are also able to see other cultures with thoughts more open.
