Abstract

Infant motality rate in Indonesia is still quite high,neonatorum asphyxia is one of its cause.Asphyxia can be detected by baby’s APGAR score, and maternal’s condition such as preeclampsia is one of the risk factor of asphyxia, because in preeclampsia there is a failure in artery remodeling and causing a disruption in the perfusion of oxygen and the nutrition from maternal to its fetal. Beside that, preeclampsia causing intra uterine growth restriction then the baby delivered as a low birth weight baby. Objective in this research is to find out the difference of APGAR score and birth weight of the baby that delivered from normal pregnancy mother and preeclampsia. Methods in this study used a case control study design and was conducted in December 2018 in RS PKU Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The samples were 46 medical records which were taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using chi-square test. The results of the chi square test found that there was no significant result between preeclampsia and APGAR score (p=0.24), and there was a significant result between preeclampsia and baby’s birth weight (p=0.005).
