Abstract

This research aims to understand and describe the optimism in people with breast cancer. This research used the qualitative approach of Phenomenology, the collection of data using bound forms of structured interview techniques. Informants in this study is selected by purposive sampling technique of sampling using the technique of snowball, totalling 10 sufferers of breast cancer that is still doing the treatment or finished post treatment operation. Logging analysis using interactive analysis techniques. The results of this study found that first, the cancer survivor still have the zeal to recover by doing various treatment and maintain a healthy diet in order to be immediately recovered. Treatment that is done give psychological and psychic impacts vary on each sufferer. Second, the factors that influence breast cancer sufferers on optimism include internal and external factors. Internal factors such as motivation in yourself to recover, feel still has a desire to see his children until adulthood and can be useful for other people. While external factors derived from the existence of family support, and the results of the inspection checks good. Cancer patients also have the desire to do a variety of activities such as sports, maintain a healthy diet, and drink your vitamins so that can be immediately recovered..
