Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the structure in Ahmad Fuadi's Anak Rantau novel, (2) describe the value of character education contained in Ahmad Fuadi's Anak Rantau novel, and (3) its implementation as teaching material at Delanggu Muhammadiyah Vocational School. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data in the form of excerpts of words, sentences, and paragraphs in the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi which shows the value of character education and the results of interviews with Indonesian language teachers in Vocational Schools about the implementation of teaching materials from research results. Data collection is done by library techniques, see notes, and interviews. The validity of the data uses data triangulation techniques and theory triangulation. The data analysis technique is done by dialectical technique. The results of this study show, (1) Novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi has a theme of life struggle that tells about revenge, injury and teaches the meaning of forgiveness and forgetting. The flow used is the reverse flow. Characterizations consist of Hepi, Martiaz, Attar, Zen, Datuak Maharajo Labiah, Salisah, Bang Nopen, Bang Lenon. Background to the 1990s until 2002. Background to the location of the field. (2) The value of character education found in Ahmad Fuadi's Anak Rantau novels is religious, hard work, friendly / communicative, likes to read, responsibility, discipline. (3) the implementation of teaching materials in the form of appreciation of novels, appreciation of synopsis, analysis of novel structures, and values of character education. The four teaching materials have met the criteria of literary teaching materials can be seen from KI and KD: according to the criteria for teaching materials, namely in terms of language, psychological, cultural background. Indonesian teacher responses so students can develop imagination and students can find out information about a literary work.
