Abstract
ESI RATNA MUNTHOHAROH J 310 140 021 THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BODY PERCEPTION AND ENERGY AND PROTEIN ADEQUACY IN THE STUDENTS OF HEALTH SCIENCE FACULTY OF MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF SURAKARTA Introduction : Adolescence is a time when the process of growth increases rapidly accompanied by the increasing of the nutrition intake needs. If intake is not met, nutritional problems will arise in these adolescents. Some factors that cause adolescents lack in fulfilling nutritional adequacy are, for example, the lack of energy and protein intake, bad frequency of eating and the habit of choosing the type. Adequacy of intake in adolescents is influenced by endogenous factors, exogenous factors, and perceptions. Perception of body shape is a sensation that is very often pursued by teenagers to get a good shape. Objective: To determine the relationship between body perception and energy and protein adequacy at the Faculty of Health Sciences students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta in 2017. Research Method: The research method used was observational with a cross sectional design. The sample in this study were 91 students of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, who were selected by Proportionate Random Sampling. Respondents who met the inclusion criteria were those willing as respondents and aged between 17-20 years and the exclusion criteria were those who moved to other colleges, who were not present when the data collection took place, and who did not fill out the questionnaires completely, who were vegetarians, and who had decreasing appetite. Body perception data were obtained by using the MBRSQ questionnaire. Data on energy and protein intake were obtained by using the non-consecutive 3x24 hour recall method. Data analysis was conducted by using Pearson Product Moment correlation test. Results: Body perception was negative at 51,65%, energy sufficiency was less than 94.5% and protein adequacy was less than 70.3%. Conclusion: The results of the analysis showed that there was correlation between body perception and energy adequacy (p=0.003). On the other hand, there is no correlation between body perception and protein adequacy (p=0.1) of the students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta.
