Abstract

There are three objectives in this research, 1) To describe the leadership of principals in SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung, 2) To describe the development of professionalism of teachers in SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung, 3) To describe the leadership strategies of principals in Temanggung Vocational High School 2 in developing teacher professionalism at SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung. This study uses qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive research strategy. This research includes ethnographic research that describes and interprets social and cultural groups. Data obtained from interviews from field studies. The technique of collecting data uses observation, interviews and documentation. Data uses descriptive analysis. The validity of the data uses triangulation. The final results of this study are 1) Principal Leadership of SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung applies a democratic leadership style in which decision making is carried out in deliberation. 2) The development of teacher professionalism at SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung is done through empowering teachers by including teachers in training or training and improving facilities and infrastructure needed as support. 3) The leadership strategy of principals in developing the professionalism of teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Temanggung applies a democratic leadership strategy by giving teachers the freedom to improve their competence through training or training so that the quality of teachers has a positive impact on the advancement of education in schools. Principal leadership is a policy determinant in schools that has a maximum role and is able to lead schools wisely and directed towards achieving goals to improve the quality of education.
