Abstract

The motivation and meaningfulness of organization in students is a process that encourages students to achieve goals and to achieve self satisfaction in participating and interacting with the organizations that are followed. This study aims to find out and describe motivation and meaningful organization in students. This research is a descriptive qualitative study. The collection of research data uses an open questionnaire that is distributed directly. The research informants were 100 people and were active students of the Muhammadiyah of University Surakarta who were incorporated or who had joined the organization. The results of the study obtained that made students want to join the organization because they wanted to develop skills and soft skills. Then the thing that makes students comfortable organizing is because of their sense of family in friendship, but there are also those that make them feel uncomfortable in organizing, namely being in disagreement with friends. Students interpret the organization as a means to develop self-deficiencies such as work ethic and self-confidence, and interpret organizations such as family because of the tight cord of friendship that has an impact on learning mutual respect. How to strengthen the brotherhood also varies, one of which is communicating and talking. Changes that occur after organization are increasing experience and knowledge, and more diligent in worship.
