Abstract
Acute respiratory infection (ARI) is the cause of infectious disease morbidity and mortality in the world. Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are divided into upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) and lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI). Acute respiratory tract infection (AURTI) treatment therapy using antibiotics. The success of therapy depends on the accuracy of antibiotic use. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of antibiotics which included appropriate patients, appropriate drugs, appropriate dosage that includes appropriate dose, frequency and duration in patients with AURTI in the outpatient installation of H. Damanhuri Regional General Hospital in 2017. Retrieving data using the patient's medical record retrospectively using purposive sampling with inclusion criteria for patients diagnosed with Upper ARI and using antibiotic therapy. The results of 70 samples showed cefixime antibiotic use 35.71%, amoxicillin 31.43%, azithromycin 15.71%, erythromycin 7.14%, cefadroxyl 5.71%, and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid 4.29% . The level of appropriate patient was 100%, appropriate drug was 62.86%, appropriate dose was 41.43%, appropriate frequency was 87.14% and appropriate duration was 4.29%.
