Abstract
This research paper studies: 1) the types of error, 2) source of error and 3) students’ mastery on the use of concord. The objectives of this research are: 1) to describe the types of error, 2) to examine the sources of error and 3) to describe the students’ mastery in using concord. The writer applies descriptive qualitative method as type of research. For collecting data, the writer uses the test. The test is in the form of multiple choice consist of 25 items. The result of this research shows that 1) misformation (65.3%) as dominant type of error and 2) overgeneralization (61.3%) is dominant sources of error. 3) In student’s mastery concord, the writer found out that the students were able to answer 61.48% (average to good) out of the total answers. The computation shows that the percentage of correct answers of notion concord 79.06 % (average to good). The percentage of correct answers of concord with coordinated subject 67.44% (average to good). The percentage of correct answers of pronoun concord 57.67% (poor to average). The percentage of correct answers of subject-verb concord 57.20% (poor to average). The percentage of correct answers of concord indefinite expressions of amount 56.39% (poor to average). The percentage of correct answers of concord of person 59.53% (poor to average). The most difficult type of concord faced by students is concord with indefinite expressions of amount 56.39% (poor to average).
