Abstract

This study aims to describethe development potential of religious tourism in the tomb of Kyai Ageng Sutawijaya in Majasto Village, Tawangsari Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, including the process of forming tourism objects, developing tourism objects, and the impact of their development. This research is a qualitative type with a case study strategy. Data collection techniques by observation, interviews, and documentation. Test the validity of data by triangulating data sources and data collection techniques. Data analysis uses interactive techniques. This research shows that the formation of this tourist object originated from the collapse of the Brawijaya era Majapahit kingdom. The sons of Majapahit king's descendants spread throughout Java and outside Java. Some of them remained Hindus, but some of them embraced Islam. One of the descendants of the king of Brawijaya V who is Muslim, namely Kyai Ageng Sutawijaya. To deepen his religion, learn from Sunan Kalijaga and Kyai Ageng Pandanarang. After being considered to master his knowledge, he was ordered to settle on the hill of Majasto. On the hill, Kyai Ageng Sutawijaya built a mosque as a means of spreading Islam in the Majasto region. After he died, he was buried on the hill. The tomb was sacred by the community and made a religious tourism object. Many people visit for pilgrimage. For this reason, development is carried out, including the addition of tourism objects such as Sultan Agung Hanyoko Kusumo Museum and Sendhang Tapak Boma to make it more comfortable. In addition, the addition of basic facilities in the form of an entrance gate and roof to protect the tomb. Complementary facilities in the form of pilgrims' order and mosque. Supporting facilities include parking lots, canteens and clothing stores. However, there are a number of facilities that have not been developed optimally, namely repairing basic facilities in the form of repairing entrances to tombs and repairing catfish ponds. While repairs to complementary facilities in the form of ablutions and toilets. Development of tourist information includes introducing tourism objects to outside parties and to increase tourist visits. This can be done by using brochures, accessing Google internet services. From these developments it has a positive impact on the economy of the local community. It can be seen from the growth of various business fields, such as clothing stores, food stalls, street vendors, and entertainment.
