Abstract

This research was based on the idea by the figure of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok which invited controversy in the community. The role of the media in providing information is important in building the character of Ahok whether in positive and negative news content. The news content will naturally form an opinion in the community. Therefore, the media has the responsibility to produce objective news. This study aims to analyze thevconstruction of reality built by the media and the factorsvthat influence media framing of news. The theory used in this research is the construction of the social reality by Peter L. Berger and Luckmann and the reality factors by Shoemaker and Reese. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the framing analysis method by comparing two daily newspapers Solopos and Republika. The result ofvthis research is by discovering the level factors that influenced the construction of reality in the reporting news of Solopos and Republika daily newspapers, these factors include ideological levels, individual levels and media routine levels.
