Abstract
Knee osteoarthritis is degenerative process and its symptoms are muscle weakness. Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and Interferential Current is indicated as treathment for osteoarthritis. Compare the effectiveness combination of Isometric Contraction with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and Interferential Current increase of knee extensor strength in the recovery of motor function in patient with osteoarthritis. Kind of this research design is Quasi experiment with approach method non-randomized two groups pre test and post test design. Subject divided for two groups. Group I with the treatment combination of Isometric Contraction with Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation and Group II with Interferential Current treatment. Measurement of pretest and posttest using Leg dynamometer. The normality test uses the Shapiro Wilk test, the effect test uses the Wilcoxon test, the effect difference test uses the Mann Whitney test. Statistical tests using the Shapiro Wilk test, different effect tests using the Wilcoxon test in the NMES group obtained p-value 0.009 where p <0.005 then Ha was accepted and in the IFC group obtained p-value 0.083 where p> 0.005 then Ha was rejected. Whereas for the difference effect test using Mann Whitney the tested data is the result of the difference from the pre test and post test in the two groups obtained p-value 0.007 where p <0.05 then Ha is accepted. From the results of the research that has been obtained, it can be concluded that there is a positive effect combination of Isometrik Contraction with NMES administration in increasing the muscle strength of Quadriceps Femoris in patients with osteoarthritis.
