Abstract
Increased land conversion from vegetation land into built land in ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area could be affecting the hydrogeological function which triggers flood potential. The flood potential can be identified by peak discharge of ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area. That was underlies of research implementation to identify the value of peak discharge and analyze optimum land use scenario to reduce flood potential in ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area. Peak discharge of ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area was determined from rational method with surface runoff coefficient, rainfall intensity, and area of watershed which influenced it. The value of surface runoff coefficient shows that 61% of the total rainfall will be surface runoff in ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area. This condition, with high rainfall intensity (113 mm/day) is equally increasing peak discharge of ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area which was 40,27 m3/s. To effort reduction of flood potential in ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area, this research were carried out 3 spatial modelling of land use scenarios, which was addition forest area 0% (S0), 25% (S25), and 50% (S50). That scenario was only considering by physical condition of the land without regard to the authority of land ownership or management. The forest additional area was chosen by area which suitable for protected forest areas. The result of spatial modelling of land use scenarios shows a gradual decreases in the value of peak discharge, which was S0 (40,27 m3/s), S25 (38,29 m3/s), and S50 (36,31 m3/s). S50 is the optimum land use scenario to reduction of flood potential in ciliwung watershed’s upstream sub-area that has 69,38% of forest lands and mix gardens, 12,87% of tea plantations and holticultures, 14,23% of settlements and other built lands, 3,52% of rice fields.
