Abstract

Evaluation of land potential is needed to determine the direction of optimal utilization of land. This research objective to know the value of the land potential index in Sukoharjo Regency through the land potential index map and to analyze the distribution of directives for the use of agriculture land based on IPL. The method used scoring and overlaying of the parameters. These parameters are slope, litology, soil type, hydrology, and the disaster vulnerability. Stratified random sampling method to take sample point. Result of research showed that Sukoharjo Regency has class of land potential index classification low class of land potential index that is 3.401 ha was spread in Bulu, Weru, and Gatak. The middle class of land potential index that is 21.966 ha (46 %)was spread in all the district. The high class of land potential index that is 23.791 ha was spread inall district except Kartasura. Other conclusion in this research about agriculture potential there are paddy fields at low IPL covering 1,139 ha, paddy fields on medium IPL covering 11,764 ha, and paddy fields in high IPL covering 14,377 ha.
