Abstract
Solo - Baki Street have distress which can reduce the ability of the pavement structure, cause discomfort, and is dangerous for road users. Indications of distress should be followed up by determining the handling effectively and efficiently, to restore the road to steady service conditions. The research objective was to determine the distress type, level, and quantity that occurred, analyze the assessment of pavement conditions using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, and provide an alternative solution for handling in the road segments. PCI is ranked from 0 to 100 which categorizes pavement conditions, with a value of 0 indicating that pavement has failed and a value of 100 indicates good pavement. PCI data collection method is carried out by dividing the road into several segments, then making visual observations and measuring dimensions of distress in the field. The data obtained in the form of distress type, level, and quantity needed in calculating PCI value and decision making handling according to Bina Marga 1995. Based on the results of the research obtained the distress types that occurred on the road segments was alligator cracking, edge cracking, lane / shoulder drop off, longitudinal cracking, patching, potholes, slippage cracking, and raveling. The dominant distress type is the raveling with medium severity level (4530.59 m2). The average value of PCI is 24.6 which means that the pavement is in serious condition. Alternative solutions for handling is giving local asphalt, filling the cracks, patching the potholes, and flattening, by prioritizing improvements to the segment with smallest PCI value.
