Abstract
Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease that has a high prevalence in the world, which is 335 million sufferers. Because rheumatoid arthritis belongs to the category of chronic diseases, can be used continuously and become a prolonged stressor that affects the psychological condition of the patient. One type of psychosocial therapy that has been proven to overcome stress and has been used by patients with rheumatoid arthritis is guided imagination. Rheumatoida's arthritis exploration makes psychosocial therapy of imagination necessary to improve the effectiveness of therapy. Objective: to explore rheumatoid arthritis patient’s experience through psychosocial therapy, guided imagery. Methodology: This type of research is qualitative by involving narrative inquiry. Data collection is taken in the area of Puskesmas Kartasura. The collection technique is an in-depth interview using semi-structured interviews. The sampling technique used purposive sampling and employed six participants. The triangulation data that used is triangulation method by comparing the interview results and observation. Results: 1) wrong and angry because of pain, 2) guided imagery reducing pain, 3) guided imagery relaxing mind, 4) guided imagery lose anger and emotion, 5) guided imagery was fun, 6) Want to be free from the side effects of chemical drugs, 7) find a suitable treatment, 8) affordable guided imagery, 9) hope of recovery and health, 10) expectations of guided imagery can be utilized by the community. Conclusion: The experience of participants with rheumatoid arthritis was varies greatly when getting therapy with the psychosocial approach guided imagery.
