Abstract
Porters is one of the free workers, with a high number in Indonesia. Porters jobs are jobs that require manual handling of heavy physical exertion and this work can be a major cause of low back pain (LBP). The porter's profession is generally carried out by both men and women. There are no special requirements to be able to work as a porter, the most important thing is to have the physical ability to transport existing goods. The use of trolleys on this work is intended to reduce the burden received by female porters in doing work so that they can avoid the risk of low back pain (LBP). This study aims to analyze the relationship between the use of trolleys and complaints of low back pain (LBP) in female porters in Gedhe Market, Surakarta City. This research is a quantitative research, with a cross sectional study design. The population in this study was a porter of 54 women in the Gedhe Market, Surakarta City. The sample in this study was 50 female porters with a total sampling technique. Data collection in this study was conducted by interview using a questionnaire, while data analysis using Chisquare test. Chi-square test results between the use of trolleys with complaints of Low Back Pain (LBP) shows the p-value = 0.527 where p> 0.05, which means that there is no relationship beetwen use of trolley with complaints of low back pain (LBP) in female porters in Gedhe Market, Surakarta City. Based on the results obtained 52% of respondents did not experience pain, this is because 83% of respondents had used trolleys to help with their work. The advice given is to pay attention to the ergonomic work position, adequate rest, regular exercise and conducting a health check.
