Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of government education and health sector expenditure on the human development index. This research was carried out by taking secondary data by collecting data from various sources, such as the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Directorate General of Financial Balance, and other secondary data sources. The type of data used is cross section from 35 Regencies / Cities in Central Java Province in 2016. Based on the results of the data analysis it can be concluded that the variable education expenditure in the education sector has a negative effect on the human development index in Central Java Province in 2016, at ≠ 10 0.10 it means that if the education expenditure variable of the education sector increases or decreases it will not affect the human development index. Health sector government expenditure variables have a positive and significant effect on the human development index in Central Java Province in 2016, at α = 0.10 it means that if the health sector government expenditure variable increases, the development index increases, on the contrary if the health sector government expenditure variable decreases then the development index humans will decrease in number.
