Abstract
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a friction welding method, which in the process does not require any adder or filler material. The heat used to soften the metal works from friction between a rotating object (pin) with a stationary object (workpiece). The purpose of this research is to know microstructure and strength of different material welding joint by doing micro testing, Vickers Hardness Test, and Tensile Test on FSW welding. The materials used are 1100 Series Aluminum plate and Copper plate, Brass, Parameter which is 1250 rpm spindle speed, feed speed 12,5 mm / minute. Welding results are analyzed by comparing the connection between materials with different materials, using ASTM E3 standards for microstructure, ASTM E384 for hardness, and ASTM E8M for tensile tests. Results from studies on microstructure conditions occur in the stir zone, visible but smaller and denser. For a significant increase in speed, the highest value occurred in Al-Cu welding with a value of 91.40 HVN. At its tensile strength, the maximum tensile appearance in Al-Cu welding is 72,18 Mpa and maximum strain occurs in Al-CuZn welding 0,22%.
