Abstract
Likewise, in the North Square area the former Surakarta Keraton was a unit of the palace building complex and had a sacred meaning in symbolic physical formations. In addition to being a space for the Keraton agenda, the space is now also the public space of Surakarta City which functions as an economic, social and cultural activity. The main issue that develops is the degradation of the space function in the Square which is dominated by economic space, namely the existence of a temporary market in the core of the Square. A similar issue is also found in the Pekapalan area of the Cinderamata market complex, North Pekapalan there is a row of book stalls, optical kiosks and accessories and precious stone kiosks, in East Pekapalan, lined with keris market stalls. In the Western shipping line there are clothing wholesale market stalls. The issue of the main activity raises new issues of the activities of the derivatives of street vendors and some residents who make the area a place to live. Differences of opinion regarding the determination of policies by the government and the Keraton also contributed to various problems on the Revitalization agenda. Revitalization efforts contain three main contents, namely: Increase existing vitality; Revive past vitality; And provide new vitality. From the aspect of physical development, namely by planning the concept of space zonification with parallel formations, namely cultural and social spaces adjoining at the upper level, while the trading space is limited to small and medium businesses placed in basements (under ground). More specifically the settlement of trade activities at the wholesale market center will be issued in the Alun-Alun area, given the vision of the region is not developed as a trading area. From the aspect of value / philosophical development, through an eco-cultural-tourism planning approach that has aspects of spirituality, personal aspects of noble self-identity mean that they are also able to adapt to the development of society. This cultural insight will be a collaboration of aesthetics and ethics from the content of spirituality that produces a number of various moral values including mutual cooperation, manners to beings, the surrounding environment. All of them are packaged in an educational tourism container, in which educational tourism activities do not only benefit local economic growth boosters, but educational tourism efforts are the concept of cultural knowledge transfer, introducing history, art, traditional culinary and others that are packed with contemporary activities.
