Abstract
The emersion of number of community in the society become an interesting social phenomenon. The striking appearance of member of the vespa scooter community with tattered clothes creates negative stereotype among the society such as arrogance, poor, fierce and other negative stereotype. The purpose of this research is to know the identity construction conducted by Rosox Mlaku community (walking garbage community) through activity or event in order to show the society existence to the wider community. The researcher use the Identification theory by Stuart Hall and Social Construction theory by Peter L. Berger. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data technique conclusion throught dept interview and unstructured observation.The result of researchshow that “Rosox Mlaku” community is an association of all types of Vespa, from classic models to “rosox” vespa types or can be called “gembel”, the Vespa identity melts into a single entity with an identity that is ready to be signified. The identity construction of the member of the community throught social activities has experienced identity shift when it is seen of stuart hall’s perspective as well as dialectical scheme by Peter L. Berger. Contrary to the identity of the Rosox Mlaku Community identity will be seen from Stuart Hall perspective in a identity cultural concept.
