Abstract

Character education is a form of human activity in which there is an action that educates, intended for the next generation. The Indonesian Ministry of National Education has formulated 18 values embedded in Indonesian citizens, especially students, in an effort to build and strengthen the character of the nation. At Al-Anis Kartasura Integrated Islamic Middle School as an object to be researched, namely the cultivation of religious character education and the character of tolerance. The writer chose the research to find out the forms of religious character education and the character of tolerance conducted at Al-Anis Kartasura Integrated Islamic Middle School. In this study, the author uses a qualitative approach. This research included field research conducted at Al-Anis Kartasura Integrated Islamic Middle School. Information and research data were obtained from Al-Anis Kartasura Integrated Islamic Middle School. Data collection techniques with methods of observation, interviews and documentation. The analysis used is inductive. Based on the results of the study it was found that the form of the cultivation of the character of religiosity in SMPIT Al Anis Kartasura in the 2017/2018 school year was carried out through habituation programs, namely: shaking hands with the teacher, getting used to reading the Koran and cleaning the school. In addition to the method of habituation in instilling religious character education is the implementation of Dhuha prayer in congregation, cultural training for students, the morality of students when praying together and reading the morning asthma before the implementation of the teaching and learning program. The planting of the character of tolerance in SMPIT Al Anis Kartasura was done through giving more attention to the affective domain in learning, the teacher became an example of the model in behaving in class, familiarizing students in appreciating differences and making heterogeneous learning groups.
