Abstract
Malnutrition that caused by one or more nutrients deficiency can disturb brain development. Children under five with iron deficiency anemia have lower cognitive score. Biggest proportion of anemia sufferers are in children that late introduced to food that rich of iron and food that help the absorption. Vitamin C is cofactors that maintain iron metabolism by stimulating ferritin synthesis and avoid lysosome ferritin degradation. The purpose of this research is to know the adequacy Fe and Vitamin C intake to malnutrition occurrence in children under five at Joho Village, Mojolaban Sub district, Sukoharjo District. This research is an analytical research by observational research type and cross sectional research design. Respondents were chosen by simple random sampling as much as 30 children under five with poor nutritional status and 30 children under five with good nutritional status. Food intake data obtained by questionnaire SQ-FFQ, while weight data obtained from anthropometric measurement directly using stepping scales or dacin scales. The research’s result analyzed by statistic test Mann Whitney. The result shows that respondents with poor nutritional status are many between ages 25-36 months is 43.3%. Good level of Fe intake in toddler with poor nutritional status is 53.3%, and poor level of Fe intake is 46.7%. While good level of Vitamin C intake in toddlers with poor nutritional status is 66.7 %, and poor level of Vitamin C intake is 33.3%. Analytical statistics result shows p value= 0.436 (p>0.05) that means there is no Fe intake difference between toddlers with good nutritional status and poor nutritional status. Analytical statistics result shows p value= 0.783 (p>0.05) that means there is no Vitamin C intake difference between toddlers with good nutritional status and poor nutritional status. There is no difference Fe intake and Vitamin C intake in children under five good nutritional status and poor nutritional status.
