Abstract

The roof is an important part of a building that functions as a cover for all the rooms under it against the influence of temperature, rain of wind and dust, or anything else. This thesis aims to compare the selection roof cover, galvalum, and asbestos material as a lightweight steel roof construction in terms of the cost of implementation and the effect of below room temperature. The choice of roofing material by comparing part of the roof cover around Gonilan village to take the area and room temperature, then planned using mild steel for its construction. Roof covering obtained with a median cost - price of materials and labor costs per m2 required for the construction work roof and roof cover at a cost of Rp. 251,563.04, asbestos at a cost of Rp. 207,977.03, galvalum at a cost of Rp. 211,429,54. The average room temperature obtained from each tile roof cover is 30.01 0C, asbestos is 31.10 0C, galvalum is 31.48 0C. The choice of asbestos is a recommended choice because it has a fairly low temperature and the cheapest cost compared to other roof coverings. The choice of tile can also be an alternative because the temperature obtained can be said to be comfortable for residential homes but the costs incurred are expensive because of the price of tile cover. The choice of galvalum can be an alternative but if for a small room, the temperature will be high and cause discomfort, so galvalum is more suitable for large scale and in terms of galvalum cost is almost equivalent to asbestos cover.
