Abstract

Boarding school Jamsaren Surakarta is very well known among muslims on the island of Java especially the people of Surakarta and as like an Islamic educational institution that has moved to eliminate stupidity, to introduce Islam and through the long history. Together with the past of time, Boarding school Jamsaren still continue changes in teaching and leadership up to now. This study aims to explore the model of teaching and leadership in boarding school Jamsaren Surakarta, caused by the number of alumni from the boarding school Jamsaren successful in society both become headmaster, religious leaders, teachers, government leaders and more. This research is field research by the historical approach method. Data collection using documentation, observation and interview. Data analysis, using qualitative data, literature review and conduct field observations, based on circumstances. Supporting data by interview. That analysis can be conclused that the teaching system in boarding school Jamsaren often changes. Jamsaren Boarding School is still appliying formal, non formal and informal teaching system up to now. The existing leadership model also changes from a single leadership (headmaster) to a foundation system. Factors that support the development because of the sincerity of leader (headmaster), teachers and the student in educating preach religion of Allah Swt. The obstacle Factor is the high competitiveness between boarding school and lack seriousness in struggling in the way of Allah, both the students and the daily administrators.
