Abstract
This study aims to describe: 1) Factors that become the background of regrouping conducted at Mijen Elementary School, 2) Principal of Mijen 1 Elementary School and Mijen 2 Elementary School prior to school regrouping, 3) Principals in Mijen Elementary School after school regrouping, 4) Impact of school regrouping on the leadership of Mijen Elementary School principals. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Methods of data collection through interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis is done by doing data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data is done through extension of observation, using reference materials and technical triangulation. The results of research and data analysis can be obtained that: 1) There are 3 factors that become the background for school regrouping in SDN Mijen including; in order to regulate and manage the school, efficiency and effectiveness of education management, and education equity. 2) Leadership of principals of SDN Mijen 1 and SDN Mijen 2 prior to school regrouping, SDN Mijen 1 communication between the principal and teachers and employees is well established in contrast to the principal of SDN Mijen 2 which is firm. 3) The leadership of the Mijen SDN principal after school regrouping, the principal is open when deciding the problem is always asking for advice from other parties. 4) The impact of school regrouping on the leadership of the principal of SDN Mijen; positive impact, the number of students increased, the number of teachers increased, and the quality of education increased. The negative impact is that the principal must rearrange the school administration.
