Abstract

The aims of this study are : (1) the describe effort for strengthening religious character for upper class students in MI, (2) know the obstacles faced by teachers in strengthening religious character in upper class students in MI, (3) knowing the solution that is done in the face of obstacles to strengthening religious character in upper class students in MI. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used in this study are interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques using three analyzes, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Triangulation is used using technical triangulation and source triangulation. the results of this study show (1) efforts to strengthen religious character by means of routine activities and spontaneous activities. Routine activities carried out included reading juz amma, sholawatan, dhuha prayers and dzhuhur prayers in congregation, taking part, putting up posters of religious posters, attending existing habituation learning in schools and participating in extracurricular activities, while spontaneous activities were to warn if there were students who made mistakes , warn to worship, give advice if there are students who make mistakes and give praise if there are students who do good, (2) the obstacles faced by teachers in strengthening religious character are internal factors such as repeating mistakes that have been made and external factors such as limited time at school, lack of parental supervision and peer environment that may be different from schools,(3) the solution that is done in the face of obstacles is by giving reward and punishment that is done and agreed upon by the teacher and students, the teacher establishes communication between parents to monitor the development of students and will implement the school fullday school system.
