Abstract

The teaching and learning process of mathematics which takes place at this time causes students to experience problems in mastering the material because of the teacher's lack of choice in learning approaches. This study aims to find out (1) the application of PAIKEM in class V mathematics subjects; (2) the problem of the teacher in applying PAIKEM in the fifth grade Mathematics subjects; (3) solutions to overcome the problem of teachers in implementing PAIKEM in Mathematics subjects.Research uses qualitative research methods with a single 2 case study design. Data collection techniques in this study used 3 techniques, namely observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are interactive analysis models that have 3 components, namely data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing and verification of conclusions. The validity of the data in this study using technical triangulation and source triangulation.Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded: (1) The application of PAIKEM in the fifth grade Mathematics subjects of SD Negeri 2 Banaran is that the teacher must have many innovative and effective strategies so that students are able and easy to receive the material. The teacher can also use teaching aids as well as several other methods so that students can easily understand the material presented. The teacher can also use ice breaking so students are happy in the learning. (2) Teacher's problems in implementing PAIKEM in the fifth grade Mathematics subjects of SDAN 2 Banaran namely the lack of facilities that support the creation of PAIKEM namely props; (3) Solution to overcome the problem of the teacher in applying PAIKEM in the fifth grade Mathematics of SD Negeri 2 Banaran namely the teacher can make their own teaching aids so that the application of PAIKEM can be achieved optimally, before doing the learning the teacher must prepare the material to be delivered, and if the student still often chatting in class should the teacher give punishment
