Abstract

In human life there are certainly many problems, ranging from problems between religions, tribes, regions, and customs. For example, the conflicts that occur in the Middle East and Africa are mostly sectarian nuances that divide a country rather than international conflicts. Even in China, conflicts often occur in Xinjiang between Uighurs and Han majority. While the nuances of local politics are currently heating up because they have entered the political year, namely the period of change of the Executive, Judiciary and Legislative institutions. The effect is that this event will be the root of an easily expanding conflict. The mufasir of course there are many of them who have outlined the meaning of word of peace, among the mufasir is Hamka who is one of the Indonesian mufasir. This research will lead to how the interpretation of Hamka explorers the meaning of peace in the Al-Azhar commentary. The purpose of this research is to observe the message of peace in Al-Azhar commentary and able to understand the step of peace contained within. Type of this research is library research, with thematic approach of character. The primary sources in this research are the frist edition of Al-Azhar Tafsir book of 2015, vol.1-9 by the publisher of Gema Insani, and assisted with book, research, articles and scientific research related to the object of study as a secondary source. Technical analysis of data in this research using content analysis (analisis isi). The conclusions that can be drawn from this research are: Firstly, peace in Al-Azhar commentary is divided into two, namely peace and fluctuating peace. Secondly, the stages to peace there are the four elements, the mushlih (peace figures), the ishlah (the effort of the strategy toward peace), muslah ilaih or maqsud (peace as the goal) and tolerance.
