Abstract
Background: Flexibility is related to overall body function, decreasing physical activity also decreases flexibility. Increasing age and decreased physical activity, can cause a decrease in muscle flexibility so it needs to be performed on the muscles. The influence of age on flexibility is described as a curve. Where it begins at the age of children, its flexibility increases but after adolescence begins to decline. This decline was triggered by a decrease in the growth of growth hormones by the pituitary gland so that the ability of network recovery to slow down. Static stretching is the most common method of stretching, soft tissue elongated right past the point of resistance of the tissue and then maintained in an elongated position with a continuous strain force for some time. Therefore, the authors are interested in conducting research on the effect of giving static stretching duration with 8 second 10 repetition and 16 second 5 repetition on hamstring muscle flexibility in futsal players. Objective: To determine the difference in the effect of static stretching duration on the flexibility of the hamstring muscles of futsal players. Research method: In this study the researcher used the type of experimental research with the research design used was Pre and Post Test Two Group Design on futsal players in the Caféracer Solo team who were active in routine exercises taken totaling 16 respondents divided into 8 stretching people 16 seconds 5 reps and 8 stretching people 8 seconds 10 reps. Data is taken in the form of age and measurement of the flexibility ability of the hamstring muscle with a measuring instrument sit and reach test box. The results of the study: Based on the Mann Whitney Test results obtained a significance value of 0.427, this value> 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference in the difference in duration of 16 seconds 5 repetitions and 8 seconds 10 static stretching repetitions for increasing hamstring muscle flexibility. Conclusion: the conclusion of this study is that static stretching performed for 8 seconds 10 repetitions and 16 seconds 5 repetitions of futsal players has relatively the same effectiveness to increase the flexibility of the hamstring muscle. Keywords: flexibility, static stretching, hamstring muscles.
