Abstract

Marriage is an important event that is never forgotten in one's life to foster a happy and harmonious family. Early marriage is on average done by adolescents, below the reproductive age of less than 20 years of age. Many factors affect the occurrence of early marriage. This research to understand and describe the factors causing early marriage in adolescent girls. This research is a qualitative descriptive research, with 4 main informants that is adolescent girls who at the time of marriage aged between 15-18 years was domiciled in the subdistrict Gemolong, Regency Sragen. And 4 supporting informants are parents who marry off girls under age. The technique used to retrieve the data is purposive sampling. Methods of data collection in this study using semi structured interviews. The results of the study divide into two factors that cause early marriage in adolescent girls among others a) internal factors consisting of their own volition (feeling in love), want to feel married life, learning to become a more mature person, compulsion due to being cheated on by exgirlfriends, and to avoid adultery. b) external factors consisting of matchmaking factors to alleviate the family's economic burden, factors low level of awareness of the importance of education, cultural and tradition factors, and fear factors of parents will promiscuity.
