Abstract

This research aims to describe the management of fathers and mothers against the behavior of his temper tantrum on preschoolers. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection method is done with interview and observation. The criteria for informants for this research are: (a) mother and father (b) have preschool children (3-6 years) who experience temper tantrums (c) temper tantrum behavior can be one of the behaviors including: crying, raging, hitting , shouting, rolling around, cursing, and / or saying harshly (d) living with their children in one house. This research was conducted in the village of Kresan, Weru, Sukoharjo with total of 12 informants in this research, with consist of 6 pairs of parentss. The result of this research show that the every father and mother knows the shape, causes, and temper tantrums of preschoolers. Most parents tend to satisfy the wishes of a child who was having a temper tantrum behavior so that tantrum was used as a weapon to fulfill his wish. Some parents have been able to give a proper handling in the face of such a child's tantrum behavior by giving hugs and affection. But most of the other parents have not been able to manage correctly especially when outside the House and are likely to meet the demand for a child who is having a tantrum. Parents choose to fulfill the wishes of children when outside the home because of being ashamed when children cry in public places. In addition parents are not consistent ignored the rules and limits that have been set outside the House to make his son immediately to stop crying.
