Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a top priority for controlling Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Central Java. Purwodiningratan public health center is primary public health center in Purwodiningratan village, Jebres district of Surakarta. Purwodiningratan public health center is at the second rank in Surakarta for diabetes mellitus tipe II. The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation between knowledge and family support with the incidence of Diabetes Mellitustype II in the working area of Purwodiningratan public health center of Surakarta. The type of this research was observational research with case control approach (case control).The population of this research was all of the Diabetes Mellitustype II patients in the working area of Purwodiningratan public Health Center of Surakarta. There were187 patients. The sample selection in the case group was 100 people and control group was 100 people. The sample selection was carried out by using Proportional Random Sampling technique. The technique of statistical test was using Chi Square.The result of the research showed that there was a correlation between the knowledge of the respondents andthe incidence of Diabetes Mellitus Type II (p-value = 0,000; OR = 19.125; 95% CI = 8,795-14,586), there was a correlation between family support and the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus Type II (p-value = 0,000; OR = 16,000; 95% CI = 7,405-34,571)
