Abstract

The bioactive substance of flavonoids in bay leaves can serve as a decrease in total cholesterol levels. One of the pharmacological treatments that can lower cholesterol by taking the extract of bay leaf. this study aims at this study is to determine the decrease in total cholesterol levels in the blood with laurel leaf extract in rats (Rattus norvegicus) males induced alloxan. this research is a randomized Complete Randomized Design experiment using one factor that is giving of bay leaf extract which use 25 white male rats 3-4 months old and weight 200-300 g divided into 5 groups that is 0,50 g / kg BB, 0.75 g / kg BW, 1.00 g/ kg body weight, positive control and negative control. Data of research result using One Way Anova test where data is normal and homogeneous distribution. The results showed that the extract of bay leaves affect the decrease in total cholesterol levels in the blood. in LSD test the effective dose of bay leaf extract on decreasing total cholesterol level is 1.00 g / kg BB. According to the results and analysis has been done can be concluded that the provision of bay leaf extract can reduce total cholesterol levels in the blood of mice.
