Abstract
Asthma is a chronic disease of the respiratory tract affecting the world's population. Adherence in taking the drug becomes a factor in the success of therapy that can improve patient’s quality of life. This research was conducted to analyze the correlation between adherence of combination of formoterol and budesonide turbuhaler with quality of life outpatient asthma Balai Besar Kesehatan Paru Masyarakat Surakarta 2018. This research included non-experimental research with cross sectional approach. A total of 86 patients were taken by purposive sampling technique. The inclusion criteria were outpatient asthma patients aged 18-65 years who received combination formoterol and budesonide turbuhaler therapy for at least 2 months. The patient's adherence rate was measured used the MARS-A (Medication Adherence Report Scale for Asthma) questionnaire and the patient's quality of life was measured used AQLQ (Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire). The result of data analysis with Spearman's statistical test obtained p value = 0,000 and r = 0,426 indicates that there is a significant correlation and medium correlation strength with positive correlation direction between the two variables. The results of this study indicate that the higher level of adherence to combination of formoterol and budesonide turbuhaler, the better quality of life of outpatient asthma patients in BBKPM Surakarta 2018.
