Abstract
Plastics are used by humans in their daily life. But most plastics are made from petroleum and very difficult to degradated. The attempt to overcome this problem by making bioplastics. The material to make bioplastics in this research is from starch of cassava rubber (Manihot Glaziovii). This material has been selected because it has high availability and so useless. In this research cassava rubber has been processed by insulation to achieve the desired starch levels. Then mixing the starch with aquades and add some of variations of acetic acid (2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 ml). Then we add chitosan solution with the chitosan weight variation (1.5 ,2 ,2.5 ,3 , and 3.5 gram) and dissolved by 1% acetic acid solution in 100 ml. After mixing chitosan solution and starch solution then add 4 ml of glycerol and heated to 60 oC and stirred for 60 min. After that, bioplastic film can be printed and can be tested for quality such as elongation test, tensile strength test, and biodegradation test. In this research, the best bioplastic film quality was found in 2 gram variation of chitosan with the 3 ml acetic acid that has a tensile strength of 2.2423 MPa and 31% elongation value and can be completely degraded in 18 days. In the repeat also on the 2 gram variation of chitosan with 3 ml of acetic acid that has tensile strength 2.5226 MPa and the value of elongation is 32% and also can be completely degraded in 18 days.
