Abstract
All women will experience menstruation. Some women, especially teenagers experience disorders or complaints during menstruation, including pain during menstruation (dysmenorrhea). Dysmenorrhea is characterized by abdominal pain at the bottom, sometimes the pain spreads to the hips, thighs, and back. Dysmenorrhea occurs early or at the time of menstruation. Iron intake and nutritional status are associated with dysmenorrhea. 2 This study aims to determine the relationship between iron intake and nutritional status with the incidence of dysmenorrhea on female students at vocational high school Batic 1 Surakarta. The study was observational with cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique using simple random sampling with total 53 samples. Dysmenorrhea incidence data were obtained using the Universal Pain Assessment Tool. Iron intake data were obtained using a semi-quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Nutritional status data were obtained with eight measured using digital scales and height using microtoise and assessed by BMI/U. Bivariate analysis using Chi Square test. Based on the incidence of dysmenorrhea are experiencing dysmenorrhea were 46 respondents (86,8%) and who did not exprience dysmenorrhea as many as 7 respondents (13,2%). Respondents with less iron intake were 50 respondents (94,3%). Respondents with normal nutritional status were 16 respondents (30,2%), wasting nutritional status were 16 respondents (30,2%), and fat nutritional status were 21 respondents (39,6%). Statistical analysis showed the correlation iron intakes and the incidence of dysmenorrhea value of p = 0,043, and the correlation nutritional status and the incidence of dysmenorrhea value of p = 0,021. There was a correlation between iron intakes and nutritional status and the incidence of dysmenorrhea.
