Abstract

Pneumonia is a serious illness because it is a major cause of morbidity and mortality among the community. The number of causes of pneumonia and to avoid the occurrence of bacterial resistance therefore it is necessary to choose and use the appropriate antibiotic and rational. The purpose of this study to determine what kind of antibiotics used in cases of pneumonia in RSUD Dr. Moewardi in 2017 with Anatomical Theurapetic Chemical (ATC) classification system and quantity measurement with Defined Daily Dose (DDD) method. The study used of observational by collecting retrospective data based on medical record reports with a sample size of 162 out of 272 adult patient populations who met the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. From the results of the study there were 13 types of antibiotics used for pneumonia therapy where the three most used were Levofloxacin 53.88 DDD/100 patient-days (48.16%), Ceftriaxon 30.36 DDD/100 patient-days (27.14%) and Azithromycin 8.43 DDD/100 patient-days (7.53%) with total of all antibiotics 111.87 DDD/100 patient-days.
