Abstract
Solo city known as the one of city which famous with its culture. Unfortunately, in this modern era, people of Solo, is no longer realize how important to preserve the culture which begin to fading. So this research purpose is how the role and strategy of Public Relation in Solo, to build image about this city, as a Culture City. This research is using, Descriptive and Qualitative research method as the backgroud, and for sampling this research using Snawball Sampling. And for the sampling the researcher chosee, Surakarta Public Relation as the sample. And then, for the technique for this research, the researcher using observation and interview. After doing the research, the researcher conclude that, To build Surakarta City with image as an cultural city, Surakarta Public Relation, makes some strategy, first they always made policy based on culture, supporting all event with cultural background and purposes, makes socialization and also provided gamelan for each Kelurahan or district in Solo. Afterwards, made some socialization, the public relation of Surakarta also using media such as television, radio, newspaper, and internet as a part of the strategy to build an image of Surakarta City as a Cultural City.
