Abstract

This study aims to describe: 1) A general description of the combined farmer groups as a means to improve the economic welfare of the family; 2) An overview of the economic welfare of the Glonggong village; 3) Efforts made by Gapoktan as a means to improve the economic welfare of the family. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive method. Technique of data collection is done by using observation, interview, and documentation. Researchers are the main instruments in conducting research assisted by observation guidelines, documentation guides, and interview guideline. Techniques used in data analysis are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Triangulation is used to explain the validity of data by using source triangulation. The results showed that: 1) the general description of gapoktan as a means to improve family economic welfare is (a) to provide input to farming; (b) provide capital; (c) providing irrigation water; (d) providing information; (e) market agricultural products collectively; (f) regulating farmer groups and agricultural activities; (g) increase food security; and (h) regulating the rural economy. 2) An overview of the economic welfare of the farming family (a) The condition of the farming community after the gapoktan: from the implementation of training and extension activities the community has the ability to empower the community and there has been an increase in the welfare of the farmers' economy. (b) The family of farmers in fulfilling the needs of clothing, shelter and food has been fulfilled and the education of children has also reached the level of high school. 3) Gapoktan business in improving family economic welfare is through: (a) skills training; (b) counseling.
