Abstract
This research is about the translation analysis of Wh-question on Lisa Kleypas’s It Happened One Autumn into Suatu Hari Di Musim Gugur. The objectives of the study are to describe the translation variation of Wh-question and to describe the equivalence on the Indonesian translation of Wh-question in It Happened One Autumn. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The data are in the form of sentences that consist of Wh-question. To collect the data the writer uses document method. She also applies comparison between SL and TL in analyzing the data of the study. The results of the research show that there are twelve kinds of the variations of Wh-question. From 158 data of Wh-question, there are twelve variations they are: simple sentence-compound sentence, simple sentence-complex sentence, simple sentence-compound complex sentence, simple sentence-simple sentence, compound sentence-simple sentence, compound sentence-complex sentence, compound sentence-compound complex sentence, compound sentence-compound sentence, complex sentence-simple sentence, complex sentence-compound complex sentence, complex sentence- complex sentence, compound complex sentence-complex sentence, compound complex sentence-compound complex sentence. The writer also classifies the equivalence and non equivalence translation. Almost the data belong to equivalent translation. From 158 data, there are 157 data or 99.37% belong to equivalent translation and only one datum or 0.63% belongs to non equivalent translation. It means that the translation of wh-question in It Happened One Autumn is good translation because it is dominated by equivalent translation.
