Abstract

This research paper aims to identify how the occurrences of against the ruling power in Shekar Kapur’s Elizabeth, the Golden Age viewed from Marxist’s perspective, and to analyze the movie based on its structural elements. In analyzing the movie, the writer uses qualitative study. The data are collected by using technique: documentation. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The research significance is to give positive contribution to the body of knowledge, particularly the literary study on Shekar Kapur’s Elizabeth, the Golden Age. The result of analysis confirms that first the movie has been done in the best way based on the story of history of England itself by the director Shekar Kapur. Second, it describes the social condition of England in the late nineteenth century, which is indicated by the grouping class into royal and ordinary people. The nobles are placed in higher class, which is satisfied with the economic and social condition that can be categorized Marxist attitude.
