Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the implementation of school level-based Curriculum in English teaching-learning process at the first year of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo 2008/2009. It focuses on five dimensions namely, (1) goal, (2) content, (3) method of teaching, (4) media of teaching, and (5) evaluation systems. This study is a descriptive qualitative study. It was conducted on April, 13 2009. The object of the study is English teaching learning process especially Motorcycle program at the first year students of SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Sukoharjo. The methods of collecting data in this research are observation, interview, and document analysis. In analyzing the data, the writer used descriptive qualitative technique. The steps to analyze the data involved reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusion and verification. The result of the study shows that (1) the goal of the teaching learning process is ability or competence in using language in communication especially English communication that is equal with novice level. (2) The teacher does not use a certain method, but he varies it. He tried to improve his student ability in learning English. (3) The teacher does not only use a text book as a material, but he uses the other book and work sheet (LKS Bahasa Inggris). (4) The media of teaching the teacher uses book as source of learning, black board, a real thing in his teaching learning process. And (5) In the Evaluation system the teacher uses three aspects of evaluation system they are; cognitive aspect, psychomotor aspect, and affective aspect.
